Regarding the Isolation Provisions for the Prevention of the Spread of the (Monkeypox) Virus

The Minister of Health:

After reviewing the Public Health Law promulgated by Law No. (34) of 2018, and in particular Articles (42), (43), (44) thereof,

And Resolution No. (12) of 2020 identifying infectious diseases, as amended by Resolution No. (27) of 2022,

And Resolution No. (13) of 2020 regarding measures for the prevention, isolation, and treatment from infectious diseases,

And based on the proposal of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health,

The following has been decided:

Article One

The following two categories are obligated to adhere to isolation measures to prevent the spread of the (Monkeypox) virus for a period of twenty-one days:

1- Individuals who were infected with the virus are isolated to receive the necessary treatment, the isolation period starts from the date of testing positive for the virus.

2- Individuals suspected of being infected with the virus due to contact with an infected person, the isolation period starts from the date of last contact with the infected person.

Those assigned to follow-up the health status of these groups may modify the period of isolation by increasing or decreasing the period as needed.

Article Two

Without prejudice to the health requirements contained in Chapter Three of Resolution No. (13) of 2020 regarding measures for the prevention, isolation, and treatment from infectious diseases, the two categories addressed by the provisions of this resolution are obligated to implement the isolation in the places assigned by the Ministry of Health and in the manner deemed appropriate.

The Ministry may compel and subject the categories addressed by the provisions of this resolution to monitoring and tracing procedures through the (BeAware Bahrain) application in order to verify their compliance with the isolation procedures. It is not permissible for the subjects of these procedures to refrain from implementing them in any way.

Article Three

All those who violate the provisions of this resolution shall be penalized in accordance with the penalties prescribed in Articles (121) and (124) of the Public Health Law promulgated by Law No. (34) of 2018.

Article Four

The Undersecretary of the Minister of Health and all those concerned - each in their related fields - shall execute the provisions of this resolution, and it shall be applied from the date of being published in the Official Gazette.
